What are Common Symptoms of an Heart Attack?
Common symptoms of a heart attack include:
Chest pain or discomfort: This is the most common symptom of a heart attack. The pain can be a squeezing, fullness, pressure, or tightness in the chest that can last for several minutes or come and go.
Pain or discomfort in other areas of the upper body: This can include discomfort or pain in the arms, neck, jaw, back, or stomach.
Shortness of breath: This can occur with or without chest discomfort.
Nausea, vomiting, or lightheadedness: These symptoms can occur with or without chest discomfort.
Breaking out in a cold sweat: This can occur with or without chest discomfort.
It is important to note that some people may experience a heart attack without having chest pain. Women, older adults, and people with diabetes are more likely to have atypical symptoms or no symptoms at all. If you suspect that you or someone else is having a heart attack, it is important to seek emergency medical attention right away.
If you or anyone you know may have signs or symptoms of a heart attack be sure to call 911 immediately. Give them aspirin to chew if possible and stay with them till help arrives.
Now would also be a good time to learn CPR and practice.
